About Steve, Kathy and of course Merlin!
Merlin's Cottage is named after our French rescue dog of the same name. We acquired Merlin in May 2016 from the SPA rescue in Quimper.
Steve and I moved to Brittany early in 2016 after spending almost six years living on the tiny Maltese Island of Gozo.
Steve's background is mainly in the music and entertainment business; Steve is a multi-instrumentalist and singer and was a session drummer in the 70's and 80's. However, it is his DIY skills, which have transformed Merlin's Cottage from a neglected empty building into the comfortable and charming gite of today.
Kathy has a varied background including being a qualified horse riding instructress, children's social worker and singer. She has been Steve's gopher throughout the renovations, making coffee and mixing plaster!
Kathy is also a published author using the pen name Freya Barrington.
